Baba Mohan Singh was willing to leave it at
that, but the fanatical Kartar Singh still insisted
he was the true and only heir of Baba Gurbachan
Singh Khalsa ‘Bhindrawaley’. The
‘Sangat’ (congregation)
based at Bhindra taunted Kartar Singh and asked
why he was not present in Bhindra if he was
the rightful head of the institution. It is
said that Baba Mohan Singh, working through
the law courts obtained an injunction against
Kartar Singh preventing him or his followers
from using the term ‘Samparda
Bhindra’ to describe themselves.

This action according to the Nihangs of Baba
Bkala Tarna Dal lead to Kartar Singh seeking
approval from the ‘Jathedar’ of
Shaheeda Dee Missl Baba Bkala, Akali Nihang
Baba Bishan Singh to link Kartar Singh’s
Samparda with Shaheed Akali Nihang Baba Deep
Singh. This approval was given and for the first
time in history, Kartar Singh began to formally
claim he was the sole 13th head of The Dam Dami
Taksal, established by Akali Nihang Guru Gobind
Singh Ji at Dam Dama Sahib.

In time, Kartar Singh’s fanatical followers,
under the leadership of Jarnail Singh ‘Bhindrawaley’
in the 1980s would bite the very hand that fed
and nurtured them. They would claim that they
were the true Baba Deep Singh Shaheeda Dee Missl,
and not the Nihangs at Baba Bkala nor its sister
Dal, Vikh Vindhi.
This open lie can easily be exposed by the
words of Baba Gurbachan Singh Khalsa ‘Bhindrawaley’
himself. In his text, ‘Gurmat
Rehit Maryada’, published by
Sant Giani Mohan Singh Ji ‘Bhindrawaley’,
Baba Gurbachan Singh speaks on the topic of
meat, and states in passing the following:
‘Baba Deep Singh Ji
Shaheed-----Till now in their Missal the
leaders that have succeeded each other one
after another and their companion Sikhs
-------. The present Jathedar is
Baba Kundan Singh.’
